Hello, Taylor,
There hasn’t been too much going on since last weekend, which is okay, because last weekend was amazing. I’m still getting little shivers of happiness when I think about it.
I ended up giving Ragdoll of that Sunday to herself so she could enjoy her day. I watched a little of it, but mostly stayed inside to recover. That Saturday was a lot and I needed some time to let it all sink in.
I hope I can do another one soon.
The week was pretty tame. Wake up, hope the crows say hello, have breakfast, read my book. The book club is reading a new book! The last one was “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep” and it was very different from the Blade Runner movie I saw a few months ago. The movie was really a detective story, and got really ugly at the end. The book was more about psychology of androids and people and empathy. I really liked it. The new book is the Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and its really really wierd, and doesn’t make a lot of sense. But it’s a different read. I’m still not sure if I like Science Fiction.
Saturday I tried something different with the crows. I put their food out, but kept a few peanuts in my pocket. They lined up on the fence that morning, and I walked down to the grass. They didn’t move, so I got a little closer. I was going to put down a peanut, but then he flew off because I got too close. When he came back, I walked down to the grass again, and tried to walk towards him. He let out a lot of alert caws, so I just threw him the peanut. HE didn’t go for it, so I finished breakfast and went back inside. It was only then that he came down to the grass for his peanut. Since then, he’s gotten skittish when he sees me. If he catches me in eyesight, he flies off. I think I scared him. I don’t want to drive him away, he’s the only friend I have breakfast with.
Money is very tight this week,m so i decided to go for a walk. There was a trail I hadn’t been to nearby so I went to try it. It was an urban trail, and didn’t really go anywhere. One end ended on a street with no where to go, and the other near a old barn. IT was closed up, but at least it was something to see. The rest was just through a field, and some trees. It was paved and very flat, but that wasn’t a bad thing. I know our body is older than me by a lot, but there’s something going on with our hips. Sometimes if we sit a while, our hips have trouble moving for a few steps. During that hike, I was having trouble the whole time. I know Ragdoll doesn’t like going to the doctors because they’re so expensive, but I think she should. The other thing that happened was the heat. It’s hot here. Like really hot. And walking even in shorts, was a lot of work. Thankfully, The Oracle’s trick of putting a rock in your mouth kept me from getting thirsty, but I needed water after two hours of that. And lots of sitting down.
For lunch I had Korean food. I didn’t know what to get so I asked for one of the combo meals, and it came out on sizzling plates! Wow! And they gave me a whole lot of side dishes too. As usual it was too much food, so I saved half for Ragdoll, which she had for lunch later that day.
Ragdoll’s laptop stopped working today, so she spent most of the morning fixing it, which was sad, because she was trying to play catch up on all the housework we missed from being on vacation. She did say though that I had my own profile on it. No more laptop sharing with Ragdoll! She’s going to see about adding a new profile for me on all her computers. She asked me to keep moving forward when I came out and try to play catch up. When I came out, there were really only two big things to do. Cook my dinner and do laundry. After that, it’s just picking up the house, and she’s already done half of it (thank you!)
I cooked today, Taylor! Like really cooked! Up to now I’ve mostly been making sandwiches and wraps for my lunches. I felt I could use the stove to really try cooking. I’m already frying bacon and cooking eggs in the morning, so I can do little things. I found an easy recipe for making fancy ramen noodles, and we bought all the ingredients Friday. And I cooked! But I messed up a little. I forgot to add olive oil while cooking, and forgot to add salt and pepper at the end. Also Ragdoll used up all the onion. I haven’t tried it yet because it’s for lunch tomorrow. But I might try making it again next week just to make sure I have all the ingredients and everything ready for cooking.
Itβs also again very very very hot. I want to be cold again. My first days here were cold. I want those days again.
I should get back to work cleaning house, Taylor. I hope the cold is treating you well. Wish I was there with you. π
